TNZ Wellington District Open

Saturday 21 April 2018

Dear instructors and members

It is a great pleasure to invite you all to the TNZ Wellington District Open, held at St Patrick’s College, Silverstream Upper Hutt on the 21st April 2018.

The tournament is open to all WT style clubs, for members yellow belt and above. Poomse and Kyorugi competitions will both run.

This event is a TNZ-5 ranked tournament. Points will be awarded to black belt competitors and used as part of the selection process for the national team, which will be selected later in the year. Oceania Championships has been announced August 2nd – 5th in Tahiti, and we expect President’s Cup dates to be announced soon. Information on the TNZ points system can be found here https://taekwondonz.com/tnz-ranking/

Daedo PSS will be used for grades 2 -1 and black belt divisions. E-socks will be required for these grades. Gen 2 socks are recommended over Gen 1 socks.

On Sunday 22nd April we are hosting a Daedo training session at WelTec, Petone, free to all entrants of the tournament. The session is open to all grades however e-socks are required to participate. These sessions are vital for players to experience using the electronic scoring equipment and improve their scoring ability.

We are excited to have Eisa Mozhdeh Jouybari join us to help lead the session. Eisa is a former member of the Iranian national team, and currently based in Melbourne is two time Australian National Champion and Australian Open gold medallist.

We look forward to bringing you these two events. On behalf of the Wellington District Board,

Fiona Francois

Chairperson
Wellington District Board
