TNZ South Island Open 2026
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Union Inc is proud to be hosting the 2026 TNZ South Island Open.
This event is due to be held on August 29th at Pioneer Stadium, 75 Lyttelton St, Christchurch.
The South Island Open will feature Kyorugi (Sparring) and Poomsae (Patterns) competitions.
Christchurch Olympic / RecreateNZ Intro to TKD Session
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Union Inc recently hosted a group from RecreateNZ for an introduction to Taekwondo lesson. RecreateNZ is a charity who provide recreational and educational activities for people with intellectual disabilities. On June 6th, 2026, 18 students and 5 support staff took part in a fun, supportive class taken by Master Alan Brian and Master Mary Maravilla. The lesson was offered free of charge and everyone agreed that the session was a lot of fun! We hope to host them again in the future.
TNZ Poomsae Seminar - May 2026
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Inc was honoured to host a High Performance Poomsae seminar, led by Grand Master Bradley Tatnell (Australia) and Master Sophia Haynes (NZ).
The seminar provided an excellent platform for athletes across NZ to refine their technical execution and deepen their understanding of Poomsae performance standards under the guidance of highly respected practitioners. We extend our sincere appreciation for their professionalism, expertise, and commitment to athlete development.
We also commend all athletes who participated and contributed to the success of the event.
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Inc remains committed to fostering excellence and contributing to the continued growth and advancement of the Taekwondo community.
NZ Kukkiwon Cup International Open 2026
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Union Inc proudly hosted the 2026 NZ Kukkiwon Cup International Open.
This is the largest Taekwondo tournament held in New Zealand, attracting over 500 competitors from NZ and overseas. The tournament was held at Pioneer Stadium on Saturday May 23rd, 2026, in Christchurch, NZ.
Our club members kindly volunteer hours of their time and expertise in order to facilitate and promote Taekwondo in NZ.

TNZ National Junior Team Selection Day 2026
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Inc hosted the Taekwondo New Zealand Junior National Team Selection Day on Saturday January 24th 2026.
Christchurch Olympic Taekwondo Union Inc works closely with TNZ and other member organisations to further promote and facilitate Taekwondo in NZ.
