  • The TUNZ National Championship held 17 – 18th September 2016 was a big event for our club.
The TUNZ National Championship held 17 – 18th September 2016 was a big event for our club. Being the Host Club, the members were asked to help out with the set up the night before the tournament and good thing there was a pretty good turn up from everyone. I’ve seen eager and excited faces, I’ve sensed stress, anxiety and panic from some but of course it’s understandable. Personally, it’s always the fear of unknown. To manage our stress level, we rehearsed our Poomsae and planned our line up on the mat (an absolute privileged after our services rendered). We went home feeling and claiming we were gonna rake some gold’s!
  • At Labour weekend Christchurch Olympic took a team, which included myself and my younger brother Charlie, up to Blenheim.
At Labour weekend Christchurch Olympic took a team, which included myself and my younger brother Charlie, up to Blenheim. This was my fourth time going to Top of the South, but it was Charlie’s first time so he was feeling very excited but nervous. Charlie’s poomsae division was 3rd . Before he did his poomsae I ran him through what he needed to do, I also coached his poomsae. He did really well but unfortunately missed out on a medal.

  • Poomsae is becoming more popular
The Tuesday night Poomsae class instructed by Rafael Neves is becoming more and more popular as Students realise that this class has so much to offer. Whether you are looking to compete in Poomsae Competition or just want to have that technical edge for Grading this class is for you. As you'll see from the photo, Rafael's class is averaging approx 20 people every Tuesday night with a good mix of kids and adults. I encourage everyone to get along and make use of Rafael's expertise.
