Oceania Qualification Tournament for Tokyo 2020 to be held in Australia

The Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be held in Gold Coast, Australia.

The venue will be the same as the 2018 Commonwealth Games, in which Taekwondo was still not included in the official program.

Australian Taekwondo has been awarded the Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament for Tokyo 2020.

The competition will offer all the athletes involved the chance to grab a spot for the eight Olympic divisions to be played at Tokyo 2020 Games during next year’s summer.

Each nation is limited to a quota of two male and two female athletes.
Action will take place in Gold Coast on February 29 next year.

Australian Taekwondo thanked global governing body World Taekwondo for entrusting them with the event.

“This will be the first time that a taekwondo Olympic qualification event has been held in Australia and we thank World Taekwondo Oceania for supporting our bid, and World Taekwondo for awarding the tournament to Australia,” a statement said.
