RETURN TO SAMOA: TRAINING WITH THE ‘KL TAEKWONDO CLUB’

It is almost a year since I first had the pleasure of visiting Master Kaino Thomsen- Fuataga and his Club KL Taekwondo in Mautautu-uta, Samoa and since my first visit the Christchurch Olympic Club has been able to assist the KL Taekwondo Club with a good number of second uniforms which are extremely hard to source in Samoa. Master Kaino is extremely grateful for the assistance and this is something I hope that Christchurch Olympic Club can continue to do to support our fellow Club.

I was lucky enough to return to Samoa recently and I visited the Club once again to catch up with all the Instructors and Students. It was fantastic to see all the Students progressing through the grades and continuing to train hard.

On this, my 2nd visit to the Club I was honoured to take their Monday night General class and assist with more Poomsae instruction. I was really pleased to be able to teach some of the Senior Students their new poomsae and I wish them well as they prepare for their next grading. I look forward to seeing some new female Black Belts at the Club in future visits!

Again I would like to thank Master Kaino, his family and all the students at KL Taekwondo for making me feel so welcome. I am always blown away by the sincere kindness of the people of Samoa and that is why I will always return to this beautiful country. I look forward to my next visit and hope we can return the hospitality to the Students of KL Taekwondo Club soon.
